Chief Mark Macon's Career

Mark T. Macon was sworn in as Weldon’s first African American Chief of Police on September 27, 2006.

  • He Briefly worked as a narcotic agent for the town of Aulander in 1991
  • Northampton County Sheriff’s office from 1992-1993
  • Halifax County Sheriff’s office from 1993-2006. In 1997 Chief Macon was promoted to  Detective Sergeant and in 2001 he was promoted to lieutenant Detective
  • Adjunct Professor for North Carolina Wesleyan College, Saint Paul’s College and Saint Augustine’s College and Phoenix University
