Water Department
The Town of Weldon owns & operates a 2.0 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) conventional surface water treatment plant. The Town utilizes the Roanoke River as our water source. The original Water Treatment Plant was built in the late 1800’s with the existing building erected in the early to mid 1930’s. The last major upgrade to the plant was in 1980.
The Town has 1.4 Million Gallons (MG) of potable water storage consisting of one (1) 0.5 MG and one (1) 0.4 MG elevated water tanks and one (1) 0.5 MG in-ground clearwell.
The Town presently provides potable water to the residents of Weldon as well as residents of Halifax and Northampton Counties.
The Town provides raw untreated and potable water to the Roanoke Valley Energy Facility. The facility utilizes the water to produce steam and electricity.
The Town employs five (5) certified surface water treatment plant operators with a combined 48 years of experience.
Sewer Department
The Town of Weldon owns and operates a 1.2 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) Wastewater Treatment Plant. The original wastewater treatment plant was built in 1960. A new 0.6 MGD wastewater treatment plant was built in 1986 and the original plant was demolished. The plant was expanded to its present 1.2 MGD in 1996.
The plant consists of screening, aeration, clarification, chlorination, dechlorination and aerobic sludge digestion. Bio-Solids (sludge) are disposed of by land application.
The Town utilizes five (5) lift stations to convey the wastewater to the treatment plant.
The Town presently serves the residents of Weldon as well as residents of Halifax and Northampton Counties.
The Town employs three (3) certified wastewater treatment plant operators with a combined 55 years of experience.
Street Department
The Town of Weldon contracts with Waste Industries for Solid Waste collection and provided daily curb side yard waste and seasonal leaf collection. The Town also provides semi-annual “clean-up” week which consist of curb side collection and disposal of unwanted “junk”.

The Town of Weldon holds CLEAN UP WEEK twice a year. (Spring & Fall) Dates will be announced.
